9 Habits of a Happy Mom
As a mom, it’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind of taking care of your children and managing a household. I have incorporated these 9 habits of a happy mom, to remind myself of my happiness and wellbeing. There is no certainty that these habits will magically make you happy, but I can assure you that they will help you in one way or another.
9 Habits of a Happy Mom
1 – Stay Organized
Parenting can be overwhelming, but happy moms tend to be organized and have systems in place to manage their responsibilities. This might include meal planning, delegating tasks to other, or using a planner or calendar to stay on top of appointments and activities. Another way to stay organized is through decluttering your home to create a more peaceful environment.
2 – Connect with Others
Motherhood can be isolating, but happy moms prioritize connection with others. This might mean joining a mom’s group, scheduling regular phone calls with friends, or simply making time for social activities.
3 – Practice Gratitude
Gratitude is a powerful tool for increasing happiness and reducing stress. Happy moms make a habit of focusing on the good in their lives and expressing gratitude for it.

4 – Make Time for Fun
Happy moms know that parenting doesn’t have to be all work and no play. They make time for fun activities with their kids and also prioritize their own leisure time. A few years ago, I decided to create some Love, Learning & Fun to enjoy with my little girl and it’s something we continue to find fun in a variety of ways.
5 – Set Boundaries
It’s ok for mom to be assertive about their needs and set boundaries when necessary. Learn to say no to commitments that don’t align with your values and priorities, and make time for things that truly matter. If there ever comes a time that setting boundaries becomes difficult, start with slowing down. These 7 Ways to Slow Down in Motherhood have helped me find greater joy in motherhood and be a happier mom.
6 – Practice Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment and non-judgmentally observing your thoughts and feelings. Happy moms tend to be mindful, which helps them stay grounded and calm during stressful moments.

7 – Prioritize Self-Care
Happy moms make time for themselves and prioritize self-care. This can look different for everyone, but might include things like exercise, or engaging in hobbies and interests outside of parenting. Don’t neglect your physical health either – make sure to get enough sleep, eat well, and take breaks when you need them.
One thing that I love to do for my self-care, is spend time in the garden. It has become something I love doing and enjoy the rewards with my family as well. I find myself learning and trying new things to improve my gardening skills and sharing the joy of gardening with friends as well.
8 – Embrace Imperfection
No one is perfect, and that’s okay. Accepting your impoerfections and those of your children can help reduce stress and create a more positive, loving environment.
9 – Prioritize Time with Family
Spending quality time with your family is essential for building and maintaining strong relationships. Whether it’s a family game night or a weekend outing, make sure to prioritize time together and create lasting memories.
Becoming a Happy Mom
By incorporating these habits into your daily routine, you can increase your happiness as a mom and improve your overall well-being. Remember, taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your family.
